Terms
Last updated: 2026-04-17 · Draft
Plain-English draft. Legible is in pre-launch. Formal terms land before we charge any customer. Email [email protected] with questions.
What Legible is
Legible (“we”) runs a service at legible.dev and its staging URLs that indexes and explains source code you send us. Using the service means you agree to these terms.
Your account
- You must be 16 or older, or have a legal guardian’s consent.
- One person per account. Share accounts at your own risk; we can’t un-share data leaked to teammates you invited.
- Keep your API token secret. Anyone with the token can act as you.
What you can do
- Scan, trace, narrate, and share code you have rights to.
- Use the CLI and web UI within reasonable limits (no abuse, no scraping the entire public index, no attempts to bypass auth).
- Cancel your paid plan any time.
What you can’t do
- Upload code you don’t have the rights to. If an employer / customer / upstream OSS licence prohibits third-party indexing, don’t scan it with Legible.
- Upload malware, CSAM, or content prohibited by Australian law.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or white-label the service without a signed enterprise agreement.
What we can do
- Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
- Ship breaking changes to the CLI and API with reasonable notice.
- Run the service “as is” — we try hard but don’t guarantee zero downtime or bug-free behaviour.
Payments & refunds
Paid tiers are monthly. Cancel any time from your account settings. We don’t issue refunds for partial months but we won’t charge you again after you cancel.
Liability
To the extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim is capped at what you paid us in the previous 12 months. We’re not liable for indirect, consequential, or revenue-loss damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
